Great New Resources in the Library

Turner, ‘The Anthropology of Performance’. This posthumous collection noted anthropologist Victor Turner explores performance as a culture in his unique vision of a ‘postmodern anthropology’.

Carlson, ‘Performance’. 2nd ed. Comprehensively revised and Illustrated this book discusses recent performance work and takes into consideration changes that have taken place in the study of performances since the book’s original publication in 1996.

Birch and Tompkins (eds) ‘Performing site- specific theatre’. This book turns a critical eye to the increasingly popular form of site-specific performance. By re-assessing this contemporary practice, the book investigates the nature of the relationship between ‘site’ and ‘performance’

Pearson, ‘Site- specific performance’. Leading theatre artist and scholar Mike Pearson draws on thirty years of practical experience, proposing original approaches to the creation and study of performance outside the auditorium.
